2021年8月、直島の桟橋にあった草間彌生の作品「南瓜」(1994年)が台風で海に流されてしまった。その代わりに、何十個もの渦巻き状の海藻を浜辺に残していった。多くの人はこれをフェアなトレードとは思わなかったが、その時すでに台風は過ぎ去っていた。
In August of 2021, a typhoon swept Yayoi Kusama’s artwork “Pumpkin” (1994) off a pier on the coast of Naoshima. In exchange, it left dozens of swirling forms of seaweed along the beach. Many people didn’t consider this a fair trade, but the storm had already passed.
