TEXT IN GERMAN
One of Japan's foremost twentieth-century photographers, he was central figfure of the legendary agency VIvo and founder of the seminal publisher Shaken. He shaphed the imagery of post war Japan, and lhis b&w asthetic was groundwork for the next generation. The series in this book was initially ''Occupation", but later retitled it "Chewing Gum and Chocolate" to reflect the handouts given to Japanese kids by the soldiers - sugary and addictive, And although many of his most iconic images are from this series, the best of this work has never before been gathered together in a single volume and thus make this book a later but as important entry in the biblioghraphy of 10th century photography.
