今月、広島大学の学生たちが直島にて現地調査を行いました。 広島大学総合科学部のフンク・カロリン教授が率いる学生たちは、直島についての観光、移住者、インフラ、地元の商品、芸術、産業を研究するため、6つのグループに分かれて調査を行いました。 アート島センターは学生たちのスケジュールを調整し、学生たちが島に滞在中も彼らと様々な分野で活躍している地域住民たちを繋いでいきました。 ギャラリーでは現地で行なった調査をいくつか紹介しています。

This month, students from Hiroshima University visited Naoshima to conduct fieldwork. Led by Professor Carolin Funck of the university’s School of Integrated Arts and Sciences, the undergraduate students were split into six groups to study Naoshima’s tourism, in-migrants, infrastructure, local products, art, and industry. Art Island Center coordinated their visit and arranged their activities while on the island. See some highlights in the gallery below.

アートグループはベネッセ事務所にて、直島のアートとソーシャルメディアの関係について学びました。The art group at the Benesse office, where they learned about the relationship between art and social media on Naoshima.

移住者グループとインフラのグループは直島町役場で調査。The in-migrant and infrastructure groups at the Naoshima Town Office.

直島で生産されているSOLASHIOの塩工場を見学しました。Students learned about local salt production at Solashio.

みんなで協力して夕食を作り、直島ホールで一緒に食べました。Students prepared dinner and ate together in Naoshima Hall.

直島町役場から観光担当者と移住担当者に来てもらい、色々な経験を聞きました。Students heard personal experiences from town staff who support tourism and in-migration on Naoshima.

直島いちじくプロジェクトの総合プロデューサーとお話しました。Students discussed the Naoshima Fig Project with its leader.

直島のり工場のオーナーによる工場内ツアー、事業についても学びました。The owner of a Naoshima nori factory gave a tour and discussed his business.

直島のおばあちゃんがとっても美味しい季節料理を作ってくれました。そして、島の歴史や文化についてもお話を聞くことができました。A Naoshima elder served traditional island dishes and discussed local history and culture.

ベネッセハウスミュージアムの見どころを良く知っている町民の方から、学ぶことがたくさんありました。A local volunteer led a tour of some Benesse House Museum highlights and spoke about his experiences.

宮浦港では、学生たちが日本語、英語、中国語のアンケートで200人以上の観光客を調査しました。At Miyanoura Port, students surveyed over 200 departing tourists with questionnaires in Japanese, English, and Chinese.

3日間の滞在後、学生たちは現地調査から得た貴重な体験や学びと楽しい思い出を持ち帰りました。After three days on the island, the students left with fresh data and happy memories from their visit.
