9月15日(日)に宮ノ浦港の赤かぼちゃ広場で「ペイント・ザ・シー」キッズアートワークショップが開催されました。暑い日差しの中、直島の若いアーティストたちは手や足を使って、絵の具でダイナミックに、自由な発想で水中の生き物や子どもたちの思う「直島」を描きました。 完成した4つの大きな作品は、9月24日から10月1日まで直島町役場のロビーに展示されます。

In partnership with Art Island Center, Naoshima Town hosted the inaugural Paint the Sea event at Miyanoura Port on Sunday, September 15. Braving the summer heat, the island’s young artists used their hands, feet, and buckets of paint to illustrate their vision of the surrounding seascape and landscape, complete with underwater creatures and Naoshima landmarks. The resulting four large paintings will be displayed in the lobby of the Naoshima Town Office (next to Naoshima Hall) in Honmura from September 24 to October 1.

ペイント・ザ・シーは、アート島センターのコミュニティディレクターである直島町地域おこし協力隊の本橋英里が主導するプロジェクトです。参加したすべての子どもたちや親御さん、開催までの準備から終わりまで協力してくれた直島町役場の方々、当日お手伝いに駆けつけてくれた香川県地域おこし協力隊のお二人に感謝します！
