令和人形浄瑠璃せとうち九想図大行列 直島女文楽の段
《伊達娘恋緋鹿子 火の見櫓の段のお七》

直島伝統芸能の女文楽は、『伊達娘恋緋鹿 火の見櫓の段』を大切に演じてきた。しかし今は座員の減少で、この演目を演じる事ができない。
2025年の夏、アーティスト芦澤いずみと多世代の直島の人々が一団となり「変形大型人形の練り歩き祭礼パフォーマンスを創る」連続ワークショップを開催した。
創作した作品は、愛する人の為に自らを犠牲にしたお七の死の瞬間から展開されるパフォーマンスアートとして屋外で発表され、変形大型人形と演者と観客が大行列となり路地を練り歩く姿は、瀬戸内海の島々でかつて日常にあった葬列や祭りの景色につながり、島に生まれ育ったご年配の方の懐かしい記憶を蘇らせた。
この作品の軌跡を、「残像」として再構築する企画展である。

The bunraku puppet classic Datemusume Koino Higanoko was performed for generations by Naoshima’s all-women puppeteer troupe. But these days the troupe is too small and too elderly to bring Higanoko to the stage. Artist Izumi Ashizawa collaborated with islanders to mount a public performance that pays tribute to the original while imagining a next chapter in the tale—an epilogue to give the self-sacrificing main character, Oshichi, a chance for rebirth. The exhibit documents the project from conception through its debut in the Naoshima village streets.

イズミ アシザワ パフォーマンス主催、ニューヨーク州立大学ストーニーブルック校芸術学部准教授、パフォーマンスアーティスト/戯曲家/演出家としてニューヨークを拠点に活動。アメリカ、イェール大学演劇学修士取得後から現在まで、常にオリジナルな作品を手がける。 演劇の型に収まらず、現代美術、哲学、社会学、人類学をも内包する共同体の媒体としてのパフォーマンスアート作品創作を展開する。

Izumi Ashizawa
Izumi Ashizawa is a Japanese-born performance art practitioner and visual artist. Specialized in cross-cultural trans-media performance art, she reinterprets the Japanese traditional codes and places them in different contexts to generate a whole new meaning. She utilizes physical storytelling, unconventional puppetry, and object animation. Ashizawa serves as an associate professor at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. She holds an MFA from Yale School of Drama.
